Introduce yourself and your partner, tell the patient not to move, get consent, (their name when you can/from bystander) rule out D-SPINE while assessing Level of Consciousness, verbalize LOC, Move into Airway Breathing and Circulation verbalizing to the patient (whose name you should now have) what you are doing and to your partner what you are finding,(have your partner put a pulse ox on) at this point you should already be delegating, by either intervening with your patients ABC’s (using fire when you can), having your partner move into a good rapid body survey (trauma=naked) while informing you what he finds (have him or you intervening and him or fire stabilizing), or by having fire prep for patient packaging. While the rapid body survey is happening you should be asking the Patients C/C + Hx C/C, Allergies, Medications, and any Past Med Hx. Then check their skin (look, feel, verbalize) Double Check Oxygen, or put it on at this point (this is going to make you feel better) Double check patent airway. Package patient and put them in the right position for their situation (Fowlers/Semi/ Supine 3/4 Prone). Make sure they are comfortable.
