What is the EMS System?
Is a Network of resources connected together to provide emergency care, and transport for victims of sudden injury or illness. It consists of facilities, such as ambulance stations, fire halls, hospitals, clinics, trauma centers, dispatch etc..Transportation, communication, resource management, human resources, training and public information.
What are the 6 Phases of response?
The six phases of response are Preparation, Dispatch, En Route, Arrival, Transfer of Care, and Post Call.
Always check your equipment
Preparation
Get Information, Chief Complaint, Location, Age, Special Considerations.
Dispatch
The Driver should know the location and best route to the scene. The Attendant prepares for call.
En Route
Notify dispatch, assess the scene, get good entrance and egress plan, treat the findings.
Arrival
Transport patient and give handoff report.
Transfer of Care
Return to HQ, replace and clean equipment and then notify dispatch you are ready for another call.
