something you do in your head either before, during, or after you read
What does a reading strategy do?
it helps you become a better reader
Why do we preview text?
it help us set a purpose and sets us up for success
What do we ask ourselves when previewing?
am i interested in the topic?, what do i already know about the topic?, and is the text an appropriate reading level for me?
How can you find out if you are interested in a book?
by looking at the title cover or by reading the summary on the front/back of the book
How do you know if a book is to hard for you?
if you read the first few page and you don’t know more than 5 of the words, you should put the book back
