When do you create a final draft?
A
- after you paper has been revised
- after your paper has been edited
- after you have made all changes
- after you have read it to yourself out loud
- after someone else has read your paper (if possible)

- font
- spacing and margins

- no cursive
- no all-caps (capitalization)
- think about your audience and purpose
- is it legible?

spacing and margins
A
- keep spacing consistent
- keep margins consistent (usually 1 inch)
- don’t want too much white space
- don’t want things to look cramped

size
A
- don’t make your font too big or too small
- make sure your paper is adequate size for your audience and purpose
- your title should not be overwhelmingly big
- you graphics should fit and not take too much room

pictures/graphics
A
- only add if necessary
- make them align with the text
- shouldn’t distract form words

alignment
A
- words should usually be left-aligned
- can also “justify” the text, where both sides of the page are aligned
- do not “center” essays - only poems when appropriate
- title should usually be centered

Why is all of this important?
A
- pleasing to the reader’s eye
- looks professional
- keeps the reader as the focus
- don’t want anything to distract from our words and messages
