A
- avoid infested areas when possible
- wear protective clothing
- personal application repellant effective short periods

- infested bldg, apply residual spray as emulsions/suspensions on floor, rugs, on wall surfaces height 2feet above floor
- infested areas, yards, under bldgs, treated residual emulsions
- prevent entries, spray foundation height 2-3 feet
- when diseases present, rat burrows dusted insecticide prior conducting rodent control measures

A
- id by hard covering (scutum)
- attaches host durring feed, remains engorgement completed
- larvae, nymph one blood meal each
- adult fem single blood meal dropping off host to digest blood, lays single Lg batch eggs
- either 2/3 hosts during developing
