what is peridontal disease?
- most common clinal condition in adult dogs/cats
- very preventable
- sign: bad breath
- plaque gets attached to teeth and bacterial under the gum damages tissue around the tooth, resulting in loss of tooth
What are the different grades of peridontal disease?
grade 1 - gingitivis
grade 2 - gingitivitis and plaque
grade 3 - gingivitis, plaque and calculus
grade 4 - gingivitis, plaque, calculus, root exposure, mobile teeth
what are oral cavities?
- damage around the teeth that can cause fistula, fractures of the jaw, osteomyelitis and heart bacterial endocarditis
- cause - simple carb breakdown
fistula - hole from oral cavity to nasal passage
osteomyelitis - bone infection
What are tooth resorptions?
- occur from the inside out
- crown and root - bone remodeling process that extends into tooth structure
what is orthodontic care examples?
coorection of malocclusion, crowded or spaced teeth, jaw misalignment
