What is tracking?
Whole-group instruction using a set curriculum that is delivered at the same pace for all students. Placement is based solely on ability level.

What are zero tolerance policies?
Predetermined and typically harsh consequences or punishments for a variety of rule violations.
Generally ineffective and not endorsed by NASP
What is bullying?
A type of aggression characterized by a consistent abuse of power. Can be physical, verbal, relational, and via technology.
20% of high school students have experienced bullying.
28% of students in grades 6-12 have experienced bullying.
30% of students say they have bullied other students.
What are the three qualitative labels used in the Virginia Model?
Transient, substantive, and imminent.
What are 4 effective elements of a risk mitigation plan?
Increased supervision, restorative practices, restrictions on access to places/people, and mental health interventions.
What are barriers to threat assessment?
- Overworked staff and time constraints on completing assessment
- Lack of fidelity/implementation of plan
- Lack of thoroughness of the assessment
