Pressurizer Pressure & Level Control System Flashcards
State the function of the Pressurizer Pressure & Level Control System.
Maintains RCS pressure control & inventory control during:
Steady state operation
Load transients
RCS heatup & cooldown
State the purpose of the Pressurizer
Provides a location to create a steam bubble for RCS pressure control & acts as a surge volume for the RCS.
State the purpose of the Pressurizer Heaters
Provides the heat required to establish and maintain a steam bubble in the PZR & maintains the PZR at a saturated condition.
State the purpose of the Pressurizer Spray Valves (Main and Auxiliary)
Provides RCS pressure control when Reactor Coolant Pumps are operating.
State the reasons for using a programmed level setpoint during Power Operations.
Maintaining PZR water level at a temperature dependent programmed level allows for expansion and contraction of the RCS due to normal temperature changes in the power range.
