Q

State the purpose of Component Cooling Water (CCW)

A

Cooling for Containment & RCS decay heat removal
Adequately cools all components during normal & abnormal conditions
Provides an intermediate barrier between the radioactive RCS & the ICW System

Q

Identify the normal flowpath of Intake Cooling Water (ICW)

A

The ICW Pumps take a suction from the intake well downstream of the stationary & traveling screens.
The ICW Pumps discharge to two headers which supply the CCW Heat Exchangers after passing through a strainer.
Non-safety headers tap off each of these headers upstream of the strainer, supplying the TCW & Open Blowdown Cooling Heat Exchangers after passing through header isolation valves & strainers.
After passing through the tube side of the heat exchangers the water passes through individual Temperature Control Valves on the outlet of each heat exchanger.
The water is then sent to the discharge canal.

Q

Identify the normal flowpath of Component Cooling Water (CCW)

A

From the suction of the pumps a CCW Pump flows through its respective CCW Heat Exchanger shell.
After being cooled by ICW the fluid then flows to its respective safety header where it cools the individual components & then returns to suction of the CCW Pump.
A portion of the common discharge of both trains is supplied to a Non-Essential “N” header.
The water then cools the individual components and returns to the common suction of the CCW Pumps.

Q

Identify the normal flowpath of Turbine Cooling Water (TCW)

A

From the suction of the pumps both TCW Pump & flows through its respective TCW Heat Exchanger shell.
After being cooled by ICW the fluid then flows to a common header which then separates into 3 headers which cool the individual components & then returns to the common suction header of the TCW Pumps.
