Circulating Water System Flashcards
State the function of the Circulating Water System.
Provides a heat sink for the Main Condenser under normal conditions.
Describe the normal flow path for the Circulating Water System.
Circulating Water takes a suction from the Intake Canal through the Stationary and Traveling Screens to the suction of the Circulating Water Pumps.
The Circulating Water Pumps transfer the water to the Condenser Inlet Waterboxes through a motor operated discharge valve and a Debris Filter.
Circulating water is pumped through the tube side of the Main Condenser.
Circulating Water then flows out of the Condenser through the Condenser Outlet Waterbox and Circulating Water Outlet Valves to Discharge Tunnels, then to a Seal Well and into the Discharge Canal.
State the functions of the Lube Water System
Prevents trash and impurities form entering Circulating Water Pump bearings and stuffing box packing
State the functions of the Debris Filter System
Removes debris from system that may be carried over Traveling Screens
State the functions of the Waterbox Priming System
Maintains Condenser tubes and waterboxes full of water at all times during unit operation.
State the functions of the Condenser Tube Cleaning System
Prevents bio-fouling of Condenser tubes on seawater side
