Pressurisation/ AC/ Ventilation Flashcards
In single engine operations when might the APU bleed be available?
If ENG 1 fire PB pushed, APU bleed must not be used. If ENG 2 fire PB pushed, the APU bleed may be used, provided the x-bleed selector is set at SHUT
With the loss of both FMGCs, how will the pressurisation system obtain landing elevation, what is the procedure?
Set the landing elevation from auto to manual as FMGCs no longer provide, and set landing elevation of destination/diversion airport.
When losing CPC 1 and 2, how is pressurisation controlled?
Manually through the mode selector. Blips through the controller
When using man VS, what happens to the outflow valve when the toggle is selected up?
It will open the outflow valve and climb the cabin, reducing the differential pressure.
What is ram air used for?
Smoke evacuation during the removal of smoke/fumes checklist.
How many motors drive the outflow valve? Why?
- Two for automatic control, 1 for manual control.
On takeoff, why does the pressurisation system slightly pressurise the cabin?
To avoid fluctuations during takeoff and passenger comfort.
What is the purpose of the residual pressure control unit?
After the failure of both CPC 1 and CPC 2, the RPCU will open the outflow valve to remove residual differential pressure.
Can you briefly explain the open circuit configuration of the ventilation system when the aircraft is on the ground?
The skin air inlet and outlet valves are open, air is drawn in to cool the avionics equipment by the blower fan and extracted overboard by the extract fan through skin air outlet valve on the other side.
