Electrical Flashcards
Can you explain the sources of electrical generation and their priorities?
GEN 1 GEN 2, EXTERNAL PWR, APU, RAT, BATTERIES (GEAR B)
What does the emergency generator power?
AC and DC Essential
Approximately how long does it take for the emergency generator to come online?
8 seconds
While the emergency generator is starting, what is powering the aircraft?
Batteries
Before it comes online, what functional systems do you expect to see?
PFD 1, UPPER DU
What is the purpose of the GEN1 line switch on the emer elec panel?
So GEN 1 remains running and supplies one fuel pump in each tank in order for GEN 2 to power AC BUS 1 during the removal of smoke drill.
What speed must be maintained in order for the RAT to function properly?
> 140kts
What’s the difference between selecting a GEN off and an IDG off?
GEN is resettable, IDG is not
What’s the purpose of selecting the APU master switch on the overhead panel in the smoke configuration checklist.
This connects the manual motor of the outflow valve to the battery bus so it can be controlled to depressurise the aircraft and use RAM air.
Under what circumstances will the RAT deploy automatically?
When AC BUS 1 and 2 are lost
At what altitude can the APU be started in emer elec config and why?
<FL250 as it is the battery restart limit
Under normal operations, what altitude can the APU support electrical load and bleed demand?
<FL250
What is the power output of each generator?
90KVA three phase 115/200 V 400hz Emergency generator 5KVA
What is the bus tie?
Bus tie contactors automatically open or close to maintain power supply to both AC BUS 1 and 2
What’s the purpose of the emer gen man PB and when would you use it?
Manual RAT extension, used during the smoke/fumes/AVNCS smoke QRH for load shedding in emer elec
