presenting data and results Flashcards
what is tabular data?
Tabular data is simply the data contained in a table
what is graphical data?
data which is presented graphically
what us error reduction
- automating certain aspects eg drop down boxes/checkboxes
- labelling input areas so users know what information to input
- providing warnings when incorrect data is entered
- colour coding
Why is ease of use and accessibility important?
A user interface needs to make it easy for users to navigate regardless of disability.
What is intuitiveness
An intuitive user interface allows users to easily work out how to use both interface and the data it provides without a lot of training.
E.g. clear navigation
What is functionality?
The user interface must allow an organisation to make use of the data stored in the ways that it requires. E.g. a report on the items which are out of stock rather than a full stock report allows for more efficient working
What is performance and compatibility?
A system needs to be able to process inputs to the user interface and present outputs quickly. Poor performance=frustration
The system must be comparable with other systems that either input or require an output from it
