Present Modes Flashcards
what are present modes?
- pre-programmed settings that select an optimum shutter speed and aperture based on what you want to photograph
- useful for starting out but not useful for controlling aperture or shutter speed
what is auto mode?
when the camera chooses the optimum shutter speed, aperture, ISO and flashing setting
all you need to do it point and shoot
what is portrait mode?
portrait mode will “think” that there is a subject in the foreground of the frame and choose a f-stop (wide open aperture) to create shallow depth of field.
if the camera reads dark scene then it will add in fill in flash
what is macro mode?
- useful for taking photos of objects smaller than your hand
- will choose shallow depth of field to focus on the subject
what is landscape mode?
the aperture will be closed down to a high f number to create a well focus image to the foreground into the distance
what is sport mode?
sport mode will give you a high shuteye speed of at least 1/500-1/1000 of a second
with a high shutter speed to freeze movement and works well with continuous shooting
what is night portrait mode?
the camera will try to balance the darkness in the background with the need to light the subject in the foreground
aperture will be fairly wide to let a lot of light in
