Filers and Focus Flashcards
what are polarising filters?
- changes the way the camera see and treats light
- you’ll notice the change in how your camera sees reflection and glare as a result it also has the ability to change the vibrancy of some colour in shots
what are neutral density filters?
- one that blocks light the result is that less light passes through the lens and reaches the camera sensor or film
- natural density filter block light so you can block longer shutter speeds. long exposure allow moving path of landscape to blur creating mood and atmosphere
what days can you test the strength of neutral density filters?
different ways of stating how many stop of light, the filter blocks. strengths are one stop (0.3 or or ND2) two stop (0.6 or ND4) three stop (0.9 or ND6)
what is autofocus?
often uses a computer to run a miniature motor that focus the lens for you. focusing is the moving of the lens in and out until the sharpest possible image of the subject is projected onto the sensor.
what is the advantage of autofocus?
you can capture fast moving subject and images than you can manual focus This does subject like sport and animals and requires continuous shooting
what is the disadvantage to autofocus?
it can be slow therefor losing your subject
what’s the advantages of manual focus?
giving the photographer full control over what will be in focus within the composition. this is advantage when using a wide aperture creating lots of background blur
what is a disadvantages of manual focus?
that it can be slow and more difficult to get accurate using DSLR, this is because the view finder and display are often not crisp enough to see fine details. it is only when your photograph is display on a computer you can see what’s in focus
