if lasting a short time no need to change
if extended V, give via non-oral route (IV, IM, SC) and check if dose is different
should a patient that is NBM still receive their oral medication?
yes! including prior to surgery
what to write when prescribing oral solution morphine?
MORPHINE SULPHATE (10MG/5ML) - write the strength and the dose (5mg is usual to start)
if PRN, say frequency 4 hrly with indication for pain
if prescribing fluids for someone with ↑Na+ and ↑K+?
5% dextrose!
