What are the K-codes?
K1 - No furthet action. Close the CAD event
K3 - Although reported as an offence, no offence disclosed. No further action required. Close the CAD event.
K6 - A written report will be submitted for this incident. Close the CAD event.
K9 - A person has been arrested. Close the CAD event.

What are the four catgories of offences?
- Category 1 - fine only eg fighting
- Category 2 - imprisonment less than two years or those punished by a community base sentence or a fine (or both) eg intentional damage
- Category 3 - imprisonment for two years or more, with the right to elect trial by jury
- Category 4 - Offences must be tried by High Court jury eg murder
Where are category 4 offences dealt with?
High Court
Where are category 1-3 offences dealt with?
District Court
What is a Statue?
An Act of Parliament eg the Arms Act 1983.
What is actus reus?
Physical act or effort required to carry out crime or offence.
What is mens rea?
Intent of the offender. It refers to the persons guilty knowledge or what was in their mind when they did the actus reus.
