The Venus of Willendorf is a small sculpture made of limestone and is 11cm long.
What was the purpose of the Venus of WIllendorf?
It was believed to be a fertility ideal
What are the different features of the Venus of Willendorf?
It has a large stomach overhanging but not hiding the pupic area. Her thighs are large but her forearms are thin. Her breasts are fuller and her genital area have deliberately been emphasized and subjects it as a fertility ideal. She has no face and the sculpture included only parts of female body needed for conception and nurture of children.

Represents things aesthetically pleasing, what please want to be (Greek sculpture)
What is distorted in art terms?
Changes made to convey emotions by changing different elements. (The Scream)
What is Abstraction in art terms?
Some recognizable aspects and doesn’t actually represent subject. (Geometric shapes as woman)
