How did the Greeks beliefs influence their sculpture?
The Greeks believed that their Gods/Goddesses took human form and wanted to achieve the perfect individual to reflect the perfection of nature.
What were the three sculpture periods?
Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic
What was the archaic period characteristics?
Showed structure of the body, correct proportion and anatomical details. It was stylized and static and very simplified with no emotion.
What was the classical period characteristics?
Classical period showed intrest in human body and more idealized. The contrapposto pose came in and started showing implied movement in the figures and more space was taken up.
What are the characteristics of the Hellenistic period?
The Hellenistic period was very realism with figured taking up lots of space and the human body accurately shown.

What is the Contrapposto pose?
The figure has shifted their wight onto one leg and putting the other body parts off centre creating movement in the figure.
