What was the Post and lintel?

A

The greeks built their buildings by having an upright structure (post) then the horizontal structure (lintel)

A

The columns were built by having smaller sections called drums which were all attached by having a metal or wooden road down the middle to become the column.

A
  • no absolute horizontal or vertical line in the building
  • columns lean inwards to taper upwards
  • shaft of columns have slight convex curves
  • fluting not as deep at the top as the bottom
  • has been optically corrected so we see it perfect.
