A
- young age
- first pregnancy
- obesity
- family hx

What are non pharm tx for N/V in pregnancy?
A
- smaller more frequent meals
- avoid spice/odor
- decrease stress/ long working hours
- start prenatal vitamins 3 months prior to pregnancy

What are pharm treatments for GN/V ?
A
pyridoxine (vit B6) +/- doxylamine (antihistamine)

What are SEs with pyridoxine (vit B6) + doxylamine (antihistamine)
A
- drowsiness
- anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, constipation)
- caution with increased intraocular pressure and narrow angle glaucoma

What are s/s of hyperemesis gravidarum?
A
- weight loss >5% initial body weight
- electrolyte imbalance (hypokalemia)
- ketonuria
- dehydration

What is treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum?
A
- dextrose with thiamine
- Methylprednisolone (> 10 weeks gestation)
- acupunture/ hypnosis
