Preflight Flashcards
When performing the SAFETY AND POWER UP Checklist, which Display Units should be powered after selecting Battery 1 to ON and Battery 2 to AUTO?
screens 2 and 3
What information is displayed on Display Unit 2 when you first power up the aircraft?
Status page
Why must battery voltage be checked before applying AC power?
Once you introduce AC power. You can only see the voltage from the generator that is supplying the AC power, not what is truly reflective of the batt
If Battery 1 is showing 22.5 volts and Battery 2 indicates 21.4 volts, what action must the pilots take?
Check batt 2 temp. Must let it charge according to the SOPM times. Taxi out time counts.
What is the battery charging procedure? Should your voltage show less than 22.5 volts on initial power-up?
Check temp, run SOPM charging procedure.
What is the purpose of charging the batteries prior to takeoff?
To ensure you have at least 10min electrical power in an electrical emergency. And two APU starts
What should the pilot check prior to conducting a fire panel test?
No Fire EICAS
Describe the items associated with a successful fire test on the overhead panel.
6 lights 5 eicas messages 2 ITT fires 2 master lights 2 aurals
How do you determine if the AC power supplied by the GPU is within proper limits?
If the button doesnt show “avail” its no good.
“avail” light illuminates when at the proper voltage
Upon establishing AC power on the aircraft, what test should automatically start?
Electrical PBIT
When does the electrical PBIT start automatically? How long does it take to complete and what items can interrupt the test?
When AC power is established
3 min
Disrupting AC power, turning on any hydraulic pump, if you press any of the direct modes
Is the electrical PBIT required to complete every flight?
No
What should the pilot do if AC ground power is suddenly lost?
Power down the aircraft using the leaving the airplane checklist. Then perform the powerup using the safety and powerup checklist
