Q

Where is your planned TOC with respect to the tropopause? Why is this important to note? (Have students identify tropopause using the max wind levels on the release).

A

Trop is found under the MWL.
Trop represents a region of very stable air. When mtn wave interacts with the air breaking gravity waves may form. This results in moderate to severe turbulence.
Lenticular clouds typically form at the crest of a mountain wave

Q

If an aircraft item is deferred after block out and prior to takeoff, is the deferred item required to be reflected on the release?

A

When determined that the deferral affects aircraft performance, or restrictions may be imposed on the flight the release must be amended. If not…. a new release is not required.
