In 1764, the British hoped to end smuggling trade in sugar from the West Indies by LOWERING the tax on sugar.
What were the effects of the Sugar/Revenue Act?

What did the colonists think of the Admiralty Courts?
They believed the courts threatened their rights as Englishmen because they had to travel to Nova Scotia to get their things that were taken away by British troops. They also felt like they were being treated as Second Class citizens.

He was the leader of the Sons of Liberty. He hated the British because of a banking issue that almost bankrupted his family. He used to be a tax collector and a failed businessman (Brewing Company).
What was the Declaration of Rights and Grievances?
Asserted that “virtual representation” was not true representation for the colonists. The colonists again stated that they should be equal to all other British citizens. But the British ignore this because they believe the colonists are already represented.
