The type of government in which a single person rules
Autocracy
The type of government in which a small group of people run the government
Oligarchy
The type of government in which the people have a say over the rules and control power

Why is the U.S. not a TRUE Democracy?
True/Direct Democracy is when ALL citizens decide all policies together. This would not work because everyone is not educated on all topics.
The type of government in which people elect representatives, the majority vote rules, and there is proportional representation.
Indirect/Representative Democracy
What is Proportional Representation?
Parties gain seats in proportion to the number of votes cast for them.
Explain what a Birthright Citizen is.
Anyone that is born on U.S. soil is a U.S. citizen.
Explain what Citizenship through Acquisition is.
Anyone whose parents are citizens, but is born in another country are still automatically a citizen.
Explain what Citizenship through Derivation is.
If the parents get citizenship through naturalization, then the children get citizenship as well.
What are some American Values?
Fairness based on contributions, freedom, individualism ( little control from the government), and support for the Rule of Law.
The Ideas that form our attitudes towards politics is…?
Ideology
The party that wants government to focus on the individual.
Libertarianism
The party that want the government to intervene when it comes to morality
Conservatism
The party that wants limited government in moral issues, but heavy governmental involvement in economic issues.
