Q

Massed

Practice Distribution (Massed or Distributed)

A

scheduling of less frequent training sessions that last for a longer period of time.

Rest intervals between tasks are also reduced compared to distributed practice.

3
Q

Distributed

A

Involves shorter but more frequent training sessions

More time is given for rest between tasks within the training session.

This model is adopted by professional teams and creates a better learning environment. (across the week)

Q

Distinquishing between massed or dristributed

A
  1. Look for rest periods
distributed = more time given for rest between tasks in the session
Massed = rest intervals between tasks are reduced compared to distributed practise

6
Q

blocked practice

A
  • practising the same skill continually without changing to a different task
  • usually used with beginners (cognitive) who are trying to understand and reproduce the movement.
  • A closed environment should enable the beginner to quickly replicate the movement pattern.

7
Q

random practice

A
  • Is the varied sequencing of different motor skills in the same training session.
  • It is appropriate for performers in the associative and autonomous stages.

Leads to greater learning when compared to blocked practice on a retention test.

Q

Feedback

A
  1. Instrinsic (internal)
  2. augmented (external)

Feedback and feedback frequency should decrease as performer progresses through stages to allow the performer to identify and correct their own errors.

Q

Instrinsic (internal) Feedback

A

information the performer receives directly from their sensory systems being:
1. visual
2. auditory (hear)
3. Proprioception (perceive the position and movement of your body eg. being able to kick without looking at your foot)
4.Touch

eg: leaning down to toes and hamstring pulls

eg: hen batting hear sound ball to determine if hit well or fielders knows where it is going

Q

Knowledge of results (KR)

Augmented Feedback (external)

A

Refers to specific feedback about the outcome of the task.

Beneficial for beginners (cognitive).

Augmented Feedback (external)

A

characteristics of performing a task
Good for beginners (cognitive) who has no skill who is unable to identify errors.

Descriptive feedback for an experienced player.
