A
  • apply to dorsal hallux
  • 3 application
  • 1 can you feel the vibration
  • mock test with same procedure as first
  • can you tell me when it stops
    7 seconds after pt said stop is good
    15 seconds is ok
    more than 15 seconds require the use of biothesiometer to quantify the perception.

Scalpel technique

A
  • use the number 3 scalpel handle
  • foot must be stablised with none scalpel hand and skin around the callus must maintained in a tension position
  • debride the callus in two motion from left to right and from top to bttom
  • the blade should be parallel to the plane of skin curvature
  • pt feet should be at chest level of the podiatrist
  • scalpel blade should be parallet at 5 degrees realtive to foot skin
  • you should not push the scalpel
