Ppt2 Flashcards
Ascends inclines
The wheelchair lean forward and apply more force to hand rim to avoid tipping backward
The need for forward lean increases as the slope increases
If the wheelchair users get tired part of the way up to the incline user should turn the wheelchair to the side and rest
If the wheel start to roll backwards instead of two hand grabs the WC user grab one as the other one rolls backwards
Descending incline
It she slowly to maintain control and should be prepared to stop at any time
Keep his/her weight back
To slow down WC user should hold on the hand still at 1:00 o’clock position
Rolls across side slope
To avoid turning downhill WC user should push hard on the downhill wheel
Shorter stroke my need to keep moving straight
Different push frequencies may be used for the two hand for ex when moving across to the side slop with right hand side downhill the right hand my push 2-3 tome for every 1 push on the left
