Pump (crew of 4)
Pump ladder (crew of 4)
Dual-purpose pump ladder at one-appliance stations (crew of 5)
If defects are observed, what should you do?
Report to the driver and the appliance commander ASAP
What is the purpose of appliance inventories?
• Make sure all equipment is present
• To check the condition and readiness of the equipment
• To check the equipment is stowed correctly on the appliance
Who must ensure all equipment has been stowed correctly with lockers secured?

List the 7 pump gauges:
• Hydrant to tank auto-fill valve
• Tank to pump valve
• Low pressure delivery valve
• High/low pressure lever
• Hose reel isolation valve
• Emergency stop switch
• ePump control (ePC)
The 3 parts of an appliance inventory check
• Equipment checks
• Condition checks
• Inventory check
Sudden increase in the low pressure gauge reading could indicate
• Branches being shut down
• Kinks in the delivery hose
• Vehicles or debris in the delivery hose
Sudden decrease in low pressure gauge reading could indicate
• Branches being opened
• Burst delivery hose
• The appliance tank is empty
There are two types of pumps on the appliance
• the centrifugal pump
• positive displacement pump
Bar required for the hose reel
6 bar required for 1 length (4 lengths on each side) (4x6=24bar+6 at branch=30bar)
Two stage pump
High pressure (hose reel) - impeller moves small volumes of water at high pressure (x5 greater pressure)
Low pressure (main jet/s) - impeller moves large volumes of water at low pressure
