- A female brushing her hair and a male puttng on his coat.
- Showed the targets face for 2-3 seconds
Describe the photoarrays for the human line ups
- The 2 caucasian students
- Photographed wearing different clothes than in the videos
- Cropped head and shoulders photographs
- For every 1 target: There was 4 foils
- The 4 foils were chosen by three raters to look similar to the targets (hair length, colour)
Describe the videos used for the cartoon line ups
- There were 2 clips
- 6 second clips
- In colour but no sound
- Showed the targets face for 2-3 seconds
- Dora talking to audeinces. Diego putting on gloves for safety.

- 2 cartoon characters
- For every 2 targets, there were 4 foils
- Tightly cropped
- The foils were chosen by three raters who judged the similarity of 10 cartoons with each target. (facial features, hair length and colour)

Blank silhouette ( allows a choice to be made even if the target is absent)
How was the line ups shown to ppts?
- In a simutaneous array (targets, foils, blank silhoutte all shown at once)

How were the videos presented to ppts?
- In a random order (then the line ups were shown)
Why were the cartoon images tightly cropped?
- Catoons tended to wear simialr clothings in all episodes (could affect familiarity)
Instances of randomisation
The position of each target in each line up was randomised.
But in the target-absent line ups: The 4th foil was placed in the position of the orginal target)

- In each line up tasks,
- The position of the target/ matching foil was counterbalanced
