Describe the procedure for children. (Part 1)

1. Parents were given a written consent form to complete.
2. 3 female experimenters went to the childrens school in smart-casual clothing (to avoid suggesting authority/ inc social pressure).
3. The children were briefed, they were told they were researchers from a university doing a project on TV-shows and computer games. The children were told they could change their mind about joining and they wouln’t get in trouble (made clear)

• The children were tested individualy and monitored for fatigue, anxiety, stress.
• Told they’d be watching videos and pay attension as they would be asked questions and shown some pictures after.

• After each video, ppts were asked a free recall question and then a probing question. (repeated)
• Finally, the children were shown the line ups and asked the standardised question

2) They were just told that the study was about ‘memory’ and would be watching some video clips.
3) Adults were tested individually

1. They were asked to pay attention because they would be asked some questions and shown some pictures after watching the video
2. After each video ppts were asked a free recall filler question. “what did the cartoon character/person look like”
3. Then a probing question was asked – “do you remember anything else about the cartoon character/person” The ppts recorded their own responses by writing them down.
4. Ppts were then told “standardised question” Adult ppts indicated their choice themselves on a matching sheet
