Power And Energy Change Flashcards
How do you work out electrical power?
Current X potential difference
What happens when an electrical charge goes through a change in potential difference?
Energy is transferred
Where is energy supplied to?
The charge at the power source to raise it through a potential
When does the charge give up this energy?
When it falls through any potential drop in components elsewhere in the circuit
How do you work out energy transformed?
Charge x potential difference
What is potential difference?
Thé energy transferred per charge passes
What does the bigger the change in PD result in?
More energy transferred for a given amount of charge passing through a circuit
Why does a battery with a bigger voltage supply more energy to the circuit for every coulomb of charge which flows round it?
Because the charge is raised up higher at the start and more energy will be dissipated in the circuit too
