Forces And Acceleration Flashcards
What does an object need to start moving?
A force
What happens if the resultant force on a stationary object is 0?
The object will remain start, you need a resultant force to get moving
What happens if there is no resultant force on a moving object?
There will be no change in velocity so it will continue moving at a steady speed
What do you need to move at a constant velocity?
For all forces to be balanced
When does an object accelerate?
When there is a non-Zero resultant force the object will accelerate in the direction of that force
What five different forms can this acceleration take?
Starting Stopping Speeding up Slowing down Changing direction
What does the resultant force =?
Mass times acceleration
What are reaction forces?
When two objects interact the forces they exert on each other are equal and opposite
What happens when you push on a shopping trolley?
They trolley pushes back on you just as hard but the trolley has a smaller mass so it moves
