T or f? There is a strong relationship between child maltreatment and poverty. But that does not mean poor people are more likely to hit their children. There are strains associated with poverty (parents in poverty deal with a lot of stress), and demographics comes into play. Poor families lack support, and resources, and are unable to get medical care. Strains impact children.

What is the cumulative advantage and disadvantage theory?

A

Used in aging and impacts children; relates to people born with disadvantages, and the disadvantages tend to accumulate as they grow older. Poor children go into poorer schools, less likely to have resources, and may have more stress with their parents. These disadvantages accumulate through life.
