The interpretivist perspective/ qualitative methods because this would enable people to record the life that they want
What do postmodernist question regarding methodology ?
Postmodernists challenge the basis of existing research methods because they question they idea of making generalisations about the social world.
- They suggest that the facts sociologists make about the world are simply a construct and all views are valid because there is not one single true description of the world
What does Lytotard argue ?
He argues that all knowledge is storytelling because there isn’t one way of distinguishing between true and untrue stories
What is an ethnography ?
Ethnography involves the collection of different peoples stories and can be used to record the view point of many people in the world- Tyler
What is Tylers ideas ?
He suggests that ethnography’s are the best way of studying peoples live because the researcher would require no special skill or have to interpret the accounts of the subjects .
What is an evaluation of the postmodern methodology ?
- Too relativistic ( the idea that knowledge simply depends o your viewpoint ) for example ethnography it is very similar to fiction thus questioning the usefulness of this theory
