Posterior Forearm And Hand Flashcards
What innervates the posterior forearm?
Radial nerve
What are the superficial muscles of the posterior forearm?
Brachioradialis and anconeus, extensor carpi radialis longus and extensor carpi radialis brevis
What are the actions of the superficial muscles?
BR: elbow flexion
Anconeus: elbow extension
Extensor carpi radialis longus/brevis: Abduction and extension
What are the other superficial muscles?
Extensor digitorum, extensor carpi ulnaris and extensor digiti minimi
What are the actions of ED, ECU and EDM?
ED: extension of wrist and fingers
EDM: extension of wrist and fingers
ECU: extension of wrist and adduction of wrist
What are the deep muscles?
Extensor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis brevis, extensor indicis, supinator and abductor pollicis longus
What are the actions of the deep muscles?
Supinator: supination
Extensor indicis: extension of index finger
The rest is thumb extension and abduction
What gives sensory innervation to brachioradialis?
Superficial radial nerve
The brachial artery travels through the cubital fossa with median nerve and splits into which two arteries?
Radial and ulnar artery
Which artery supplies the antero- and postero-lateral muscles?
Radial artery
Which artery supplies the postero- and antero-medial muscles?
Ulnar artery
Which artery from the common interosseous artery supplies the deep muscles of the anterior compartment?
Anterior interosseous artery
Which artery from the common interosseous artery supplies the deep muscles of the posterior compartment?
Posterior interosseous artery
What travels within the anatomical snuff box?
Superficial radial nerve and radial artery (deep)
What are the borders of the anatomical snuff box?
Tendons of extensor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis (and abductor pollicis longus)
