Posterior Abdominal Wall Flashcards
Psoas Major O
transverse processess of lumbar vertebra
sides of bodies of T12-S1
intervening IV discs
Psoas Major I
tendond of lesser trochanter of the femur
psoas major innervation
lumbar plexus via anterior branches L2-L4
psoas major action
Inferiorly: acts with iliacus and flexes thigh
superiorly: flexes vertebral column laterally (balance trunk)
sitting: acts inferiorly with iliacus to flex trunk
iliacus O
superior 2/3 of iliac fossa
ala of sacrum
anterior sacro-iliac ligament
iliacus I
lesser trochanter of femur and shaft inferior to it
psoas major tendon
iliacus innervation
femoral nerve (L2-L4)
iliacus action
flexes thigh
stabilizes hip
acts with psoas major
quadratus lumborum O
medial 1/2 of inferior border of 12th rib
tips of lumbar transverse processess
quadratus lumborum I
iliolumbar ligament
internal lip of iliac crest
qudratus lumborum innervation
anterior branches of T12 and L1-L4 nerves
quadratus lumborum action
extends and laterally flexes vertebral column
fixes 12th rib during inspiration
what does the diaphragm do during inspiration?
descends
diaphragm fixed origin
inferior margin of the thoracic cage and superior lumbar vertebrae
diaphragm insertion
central tendon
diaphragm origin
sternal part: two muscualr slips that attach to posterior aspect of xiphoid process of sternum
costal part: wide muscualr slips that attach to internal surfaces of inferior six costal cartilages and their adjoining ribs (this part forms the domes of the diaphragm)
lumbar part: arising from two aponeurotic arches; medial and lateral arcuate ligaments and three superior lumbar vertebraw, this part forms the left and right muscualr crura hat ascends into the central tendon
