the voices and perspectives of all groups who are marginalised in different ways needed to be included

should support solutions that truly address the poverty and racism which disproportionately impact women of colour
hooks focused on solitary as key to tackling women’s oppression she agreed that
alliances must be built between groups who have differences in order to work together , build a more inclusive movement so that systems of oppression can be effectively challenged and dismantled
hooks emphasises the structures of opression sought to pit oppressed groups against each other to
maintain status quo power dynamics .
solidarity for hooks is key
to resisting these divisions and challenging oppression
hooks wrote
“to experience solitary we must have a community of interests , shared beliefs and goals around which to unite”
hooks argued that solidarity must be based on
empathy understanding and love
individuals must actively strive to understand
the experiences and perspectives of those who are different from them and critically reflect their own position within systems of power and privilege
