Perform hand hygiene.
a. Cover all surfaces of hands with hand sanitizer.
b. Rub hands together until hands are completely dry.

a. The RN Test Observer DOES NOT move into position unless directed to do so by the candidate.

From the working side of the bed - move the resident’s upper body toward self
step 8 move 2
From the working side of the bed - move the resident’s hips toward self
step 9 move 3
From the working side of the bed - move the resident’s legs toward self.
step 10 turn
Assist/turn the resident on their left/right side. (The RN Test Observer will read the side to the candidate in the scenario)
step 11 face
Ensure that the resident’s face never becomes obstructed by the pillow
step 12 arm
Check to ensure the resident is not lying on their down-side arm.s
step 13 correct
Ensure the resident is in correct body alignment
step 14 head
Place support devices under the resident’s head
step 15 arm
Place support devices under the resident’s upside arm
