What is PCOS associated with?
Hirsutism, obesity and increased risk for DM and cardiovascular disease
Patients with PCOS have an increased risk of what cancer?
Endometrial cancer
Patient presents with abnormal menses, infertility, skin disorders and insulin resistance, what condition might they have?
Polycystic ovarian syndrome
What labs should be done for a patient with PCOS?
FSH, LH, Prolactin, TSH, A1C, Lipid Profile
What imaging should be done for PCOS?
Transvaginal US
What treatment should be done for patients with PCOS?
Weight loss and exercise
Metformin therapy
If a patient PCOS, is attempting fertility, what medications should be given? What if they are not trying to be fertile?
If attempting fertility:
Ovarian stimulation with meds or surgery
If not attempting fertility:
Contraceptive and IUD
Who should patients with PCOS be referred to?
Physician Supervisor or GYN
