PAP of asymptomatic women with no grossly visible cervical changes
If a patient has visible abnormal cervical lesions, who should they be referred to?

When should immunocompetent women begin getting PAPs?

The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends women aged 21-65 to receive PAPs how often?
Every 3 years
The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends women aged 30-65 to receive PAPs with HPV testing how often?
Every 5 years
What does the USPSTF recommend in terms of HPV testing for patients under 30?
Recommend against as it can “go away” in younger women
What does the USPSTF recommend for patients above 65 in terms of PAPs?
Recommends against PAPs if they’ve had prior adequate screening
What risk factors may require patients to receive more frequent PAPs?
HIV, immunosuppression, DES, previous treatment for CIN 2, CIN 3 or cervical cancer
How are the findings of a PAP smear described using the Bethesda System?
Atypical squamous cells of unknown significance (ASC-US)
Squamous intraepithelial Lesions (SIL)
Either low grade (LSIL)
High grade (HSIL)
Women with ASC-US PAP and negative HPV may be followed up when?
1 year for repeat pap and HPV
If HPV screen is positive, what procedure is indicated?
Colposcopy
Patients with SIL or atypical glandular cells should undergo what procedure?
