What are complements?
- have to be expressed for the sentence to be grammatically acceptable

4 types of adverbials
1) adjuncts
- info about the circumstances
- semantic roles - space, time, manner…
2) subjuncts
- relationship with an element from the clause
- e.g. completely (ignored), only (his sister), kindly (offer)…
3) disjuncts
- a speaker’s comment
- honestly, frankly, in short, evidently, undeniably
4) conjuncts
- connecting function
- however, in addition, overall, to sum up, meanwhile
