Pneumatics Flashcards
Name the aircraft functions that use pressurized bleed air:
- Wing/cowl anti ice
- Pressurization
- Environmental/Air Conditioning
- Engine starting
If the High pressure valve (HPV) is open, where will the system draw bleed air from?
10th stage
When the Bleed valve selector is set to AUTO on the ground, what will be the primary bleed source?
APU
When will bleed valve source switch from APU to engines on the ground when set to AUTO.
Anti ice is turned on, APU fail, APU shutdown
You takeoff with the APU on and anti ice off, when will bleed valves switch automatically from APU to engines?
Thrust less than TOGA, gear up and flaps are 20 or less.
On approach you turn on the APU, assuming you are not using anti ice, when will the bleed valve source switch from engines back to the APU?
Gear down OR flaps greater than 20 (Approach BIT)
What valves does ACSC 1 control? ACSC 2? (Air conditioning system controller)
ACSC 1: Left PRVSOV, APU LCV, Left HPV, Isolation valve
ACSC 2: Right PRSOV, right HPV
What would cause a L or R ENG BLEED caution message to appear?
ACSC Failure, PRSOV failure, HPV failure
PRSOV is also known as?
Engine Bleed Valve (EBV)
Name all of the things that would cause PRSOV to close?
- Fire Push
- Isolation due to duct leak
- ACSC Fail
What are the five isolation zones of the bleed air leak detection system?
- Wing anti ice
- Left cowl anti ice
- Right cowl anti ice
- Left bleed zone
- Right bleed zone
What is responsible for detecting leaks in wing bleed air? How about cowl leaks?
Wing = temperature sensors and loops
Cowl = Transducers
How will AILC (Anti ice leak controller) automatically respond to a bleed air leak?
Isolates the leak area
Which valves OPEN during engine start?
Starter valve, isolation valve, fuel SOV
Which valves automatically CLOSE during engine start?
Pack valves, PRSOVs, Starter valve
