Auto Flight Control System Flashcards
How many flight directors are there?
How many are active normally?
2
1
During takeoff, approach, and go around what happens with the flight directors?
They both work independently
What is the primary method of interpreting the auto flight control system?
FMA (Flight mode annunciator)
How do you verify the autopilot is engaged?
PFD says AP in top left corner.
What is the difference between IAS and CLB/DES speed sub modes?
CLB/DES guarantees 50 FPM rate.
IAS only cares about speed and will pitch for it
If you select a new altitude after the FMA is already flashing ALTS CAP what altitude will the AP capture?
The original altitude
What happens when TOGA is selected on the ground?
Sets AP and FD for takeoff, commands wings level, holds heading at moment of WoW. Green “TO” appears in FMA.
What happens when TOGA is selected in the air?
AP disconnect, Go around mode activated, FD pitches to 8 degrees up.
After takeoff you select speed mode. What vertical mode is displayed on FMA?
Climb mode
What happens if you push the heading button twice on the FCP?
Roll mode enables
What does the XFER button do on the FCP?
Changes which side has the active flight director
What overspeed protections are provided in pitch or Vertical speed modes?
Vmmo - 5 knots
What speed protections are provided in ALTS or ALT mode?
none
What does the TURB button do?
Delays AP response time to dampen corrections from displacement in turbulence
How can you tell if TURB has been engaged?
Green lights on either side of the button on the FCP.
