Landing Gear Flashcards
What HYD system provides pressure for normal landing gear extension/retraction?
HYD System 3
What does the main auxiliary actuator do?
Used for alternate gear extension with HYD System 2 pressure
How is the nose gear operated?
Mechanically, no electrical power needed.
How is the landing gear held in the up and locked position?
Uplock assembly (mechanical)
How is the landing gear held in the down and locked position?
Downlocking mechanism (Mechanically)
If you were to lose hydraulic system 3, how would you lower the gear?
You would have to pull the manual release lever
What will you not be able to do following failure of hydraulic systems 2 and 3.
Lower the nose gear, it requires hydraulic pressure.
Will the main landing gear be fully enclosed following retraction?
No
What is the purpose of the MLG brush seals?
They create an aerodynamic seal to reduce drag.
What is the ASCU?
Anti skid control unit; actuates brake pressure individually to each wheel based off wheel speed.
When is the anti skid active on the ground?
35 kts wheel speed, WOW + 5 seconds. Disengages at 10 kts wheel speed.
What are the green, white and red ranges of the BTMS indicators?
Green 00-06
White 07-14
Red 15-20
Anytime they are in the red BRAKE OVHT appears and they must be inspected by maintenance.
You walk into the airplane and the BTMS units read 1 but are red, what is going on?
Brakes were previously overheated and not inspected/cleared.
