Mild case, pt can move around
What is the most common cause of hospital acquired PNA
Staphylocci
What is pseudomonas aeruginosa
Associated with ETT and is leading cause of HCAP. Green sweet sputum
What is mycoplasma PNA
Mild, violent cough with white sputum, weakness and it’s earlier than 40 yr olds
What are major causes of anaerobic bacterial infections
Aspiration of oropharyngeal and gastric contents
Diagnostic test if PnA
Increased wbc = bacterial
Decreased wbc= viral
Management
Penicillin for gram negative, gentamicin for gram positive,
Thoracentesis for pleural effusion
