Species
Has distinct differences from other member of the genus. These Characteristics generally remain stable from generation to generation. Not capitalized
Botanical Names
Always intalicized or underlined and no plant has more than one. Binomial system of nomenclature and is Latin
Cultivar
cultivated variety. Set off by single quotation marks, written in common language.
Taxons
Classified botanically based on family tree.
How does a Cultivar differ from a variety?
Cultivar implies human intervention, a developed plant intentionally by selecting naturally occuring varients or breending to enhance specific traits. Variety refers to a naturally occurring or wild plan species that exhibit distinct characteristics from other forms within the species
