Before Landing Checklist
- Seat backs - erect
- Fasten belts/harness
- Fuel - on proper tank
- Fuel pump - ON
- Mixture - set
- Propeller - set
- Gear - DOWN (15O MPH MAX)
- Flaps - set (125 MPH)
- Air conditioner - OFF
Increase Power
- Increase RPM (propeller forward)
2. Increase manifold pressure (throttle forward)
Decrease Power
- Decrease manifold pressure (throttle aft)
2. Decrease RPM (propeller aft)
Fuel Tank Cycling
1 hour on first tank 2 hours on second tank 1 hour on first tank Should leave 1/2 hour on each tank 40 gallons useable @ 8 GPH = 5 hours
Takeoff Checklist
- Fuel - on proper tank
- Electric fuel pump -ON
- Mixture - SET
- Prop - SET
- Flaps - SET
- Trim tab - SET
Pre-flight Checklist
- Seat backs - erect
- Fasten belts/harness
- Empty seats - seat belts snugly fastened
- Controls - free & correct
- Engine gauges - checked
- Flight Instruments - Set
- Air Conditioning - OFF
- Door - Latched
Takeoff Rotation
Allow the airplane to accelerate to 60 to 70 MPH. Then ease back on the wheel enough to let the airplane fly from the ground.
Engine Start - Cold
- Set parking brakes - ON
- Select the desired fuel tank
- Propeller control - FULL FORWARD
- Open the throttle approximately 1/2”
- Turn the master switch ON.
- Turn the electric fuel pump ON.
- Mixture control to FULL RICH until an indication on the fuel flow meter is noted. (Engine is primed.)
- Move the mixture control to IDLE CUT-OFF.
- Engage the starter by rotating magneto switch
clockwise and pressing in.
When the engine fires
A. Advance mixture control to FULL RICH
B. Throttle to the desired setting
If the engine does not fire within five to ten
seconds, disengage starter and re-prime.
Engine Start - Hot
- Set parking brakes - ON
- Select the desired fuel tank
- Propeller control - FULL FORWARD
- Open the throttle approximately 1/2”
- Turn the master switch ON.
- Turn the electric fuel pump ON.
- Do not prime by advancing mixture control.
- Move the mixture control to IDLE CUT-OFF.
- Engage the starter by rotating magneto switch
clockwise and pressing in.
When the engine fires
A. Advance mixture control to FULL RICH
B. Throttle to the desired setting
If the engine does not fire within five to ten
seconds, disengage starter and re-prime.
