what is a pilot study?

a small scale trial run of the actual investigation

what is the aim of a pilot study?

- to check that the procedures, material etc. work
- to allow the researcher to make changes or modifications if necessary

ppts aren’t sure what the aim of the study is and which condition they’re in (deception)
