What is a pilot study?
A pilot study is a small scale investigation that takes place before the real study
Why do researchers do pilot studies?
Researchers may do pilot studies to make changes before the real study or to test the ethics of the study
What is a single blind procedure?
A single blind procedure is when participants are sometimes not told the aim of a study or which condition they are in this attempts to control demand characteristics
What is a double blind procedure?
-Participant and experimenter don’t know the aims or conditions of the experiment- reduce bias and prevent demand characteristics
What is a control group?
A control group is a group receives nothing
What is an experimental group?
Group that receives the treatment
